Top Tips You Should Always Remember for the Best Skin Care

submitted on 18 October 2020 by totalbodycare.co.uk
If you want your skin to be healthy, you should first make sure that you have a skincare routine – and that it is consistent. You can’t just do something one day and not do it the next, and fortunately for us, establishing a solid skincare routine is quite easy. There are three basic things you should always remember, for instance: cleanse, moisturise, and exfoliate. But our diets and exercise habits can also affect the way our skin looks, and so do the products we use on our face. So, what is the best way for you to take care of your skin? Here are the top tips you should always remember.

1. When to wash your face
Washing is almost like breathing – we do it without even thinking about it. Washing your face allows your skin to breathe, and it will effectively remove oil, dirt, and bacteria. But when would be the proper time to do it? As soon as you wake up, make sure to wash your face so you can strip away the oil and dirt that has built up at night. And then wash your face before going to sleep so you can remove grime and makeup as well. If you work out, wash your face afterwards, and use a gentle cleanser or facial wash that’s right for your skin type.

2. Make use of antioxidants
A lot has already been said about antioxidants, and what do you know? The experts are right. Antioxidants are excellent for your skin, and we already know that they are great for our bodies. The thing is, free radicals can cause a lot of damage to the skin – and these can come from alcohol, pesticides, fried food, and the like. Vitamin C is arguably the most powerful antioxidant around, so look for products that contain vitamin C. Antioxidants work even better when they are combined, such as in products like SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF, which has a combination of vitamin C, ferulic acid, and Phloretin.

Other antioxidants that would do well for your skin include pomegranate, green tea, and licorice root, and consume foods with lots of antioxidants as well, such as dark chocolate, raspberries, blueberries, pecans, and strawberries.

3. Don’t forget to exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin is also a great method of removing dead skin cells and showing the new layer of skin underneath, so don’t forget to exfoliate. If you don’t want exfoliation to be too hard on your skin, look for exfoliants with ingredients like AHA or alpha hydroxy acids. AHA can dissolve the natural glue of the skin that holds both dead skin cells and new skin cells, retaining only the new cells once they do their job. They can also serve as a humectant, which means they can stimulate the skin to produce more moisture.

4. Hydrate
We can't stress this enough: staying hydrated is one of the best and simplest ways to take care of your skin. The skin will always need water, and water can feed your skin and make it glow. If your skin is quite dehydrated, it can appear dull and dry, and it can even become itchy. Dry skin also makes wrinkles and fine lines stand out. Drink lots of water and avoid too much coffee and alcohol, and don't forget the fruits and veggies as well.
